Where to Stay If You Are Going to the MotoGP Grand Prix in Barcelona
Because choosing the right area to stay before the Grand Prix is not just a matter of price.
Published: 2026
As every year, in late May or early June, one of the biggest motorsport events on the motorcycle calendar returns to Barcelona: the MotoGP Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
It is a weekend that attracts visitors from all over the world and quickly drives hotel bookings across the whole area. It is not just any date. Thousands of people arrive by motorbike, the roads start to get busy from Friday and availability drops weeks, sometimes even months, in advance.
That is why, to make planning easier for those coming to enjoy Marquez, Rins, Vinales and company, we wanted to organise in this article the most common options and the key things worth considering before booking.
Staying Near the Circuit: Practical, but with Trade-Offs
Sleeping in Montmelo or in towns very close to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has one clear advantage: you reduce travel time and depend less on Sunday traffic. If you are coming by motorbike and want to be in the atmosphere from early in the day, it is a logical option.
That said, the hotel supply in the immediate area is limited and prices rise quickly as the date gets closer. On top of that, the surroundings during that weekend are intense: noise, constant movement, and less room for improvisation.
It is a good choice for anyone who prioritises proximity above everything else. But it is worth booking well in advance and being clear that you will pay for the convenience of being just a few minutes from the circuit.

Staying in Barcelona City and Travelling to the Circuit
Barcelona city offers more hotel choices, more restaurants, and more options if you want to extend your stay beyond the Grand Prix. For many people, especially couples or groups combining the race with tourism, that is appealing.
The circuit is well connected by train and road, but during MotoGP everything operates under more pressure than usual. Friday is usually manageable; on Sunday, getting back can be slower and more crowded, both by car and public transport.
It is a valid alternative if you do not mind planning your schedule with some margin and accepting that travel will be part of the weekend. The key here is to stay near a good transport connection and not leave the timing to chance.

Valles Oriental and the Maresme: Balance Between Price, Access, and Rest
Between the circuit and Barcelona city, there are alternatives that often feel more balanced. Areas in Valles Oriental or the Maresme make it possible to reach the circuit in a reasonable time, while still offering more availability and slightly lower prices.
The Maresme, for example, combines good road and rail connections with a quieter setting at the end of the day. For groups arriving by motorbike and looking to rest well after hours of activity, this combination often works well.
At Dynamic Hotels we operate in this area, and every year we see how many attendees value exactly that: not being in the noisiest epicentre, but not being too far away either. Sometimes the best option is not the most obvious one.

What to Check Before Confirming Your Booking
During MotoGP, not everything depends on the nightly rate. It is worth checking practical details: cancellation policy, breakfast times, whether parking is actually available, and how easy it is to arrive and leave if you are travelling by motorbike.
Many hotels fill their parking quickly. If you are travelling in a riding group, confirming that parking spaces are guaranteed avoids problems when you return in the afternoon.
It is also advisable to book with some margin. Waiting until the last minute at an event of this size usually means fewer options and higher rates.

Choose According to How You Experience the Grand Prix
Not everyone experiences MotoGP in the same way. Some come as a group and turn the weekend into a short motorbike route. Others travel as a couple or as a family and want to combine the race with some rest.
If your priority is the constant atmosphere, staying near the circuit may be worth it. If you value sleeping peacefully and organising your travel more comfortably, a middle-ground location may make more sense.
The important thing is to be clear about your priorities before booking. When that decision is well thought through, the weekend flows better and the circuit experience is enjoyed without unnecessary concerns.
